Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher (my parents on the left)

The Cliffs are Moher are something to behold.  Not only are the sheer faces of the cliffs high, they are treacherous with high winds that swirled around us, causing us to lean in a circular fashion to stay upright.  Those who took umbrellas to stave off the rain saw them quickly turned inside out, if not blown away.  Needless to say, they were some of the strongest winds I have experienced.  We were blown around by these gales to the point of laughing hard.  Of course, when we went to the left side of the cliffs and saw the warning sign, my mother said she would like to turn back while another hobbyist photographer and I said, "Let's go! That's where all the good pictures are!"  My dad had enough and was warmly ensconsed in the center's bookstore with a cup of tea, which is as close to heaven on earth as it gets for him.  Needless to say, we were energized by the brisk wind and trek along the cliffs...a must-see for any Ireland visitor!

While we were to participate on a walking tour of the Burren National Park afterward, this was the only day where the rain was what we had all anticipated.  In fact, it was so heavy, it was too dangerous to walk on the uneven terrain.  Regardless of the weather, we were able to still hear from the local tour guide about the history of the location and it's unique flora, which does not occur anywhere else in the world.
